Post 347 Newsletters

MAY/JUN/JUL, 2020   NEWSLETTER

Birthday/Awards dinner. The dinner was held last March 15th at WISCO Supper Club. We had 31 in attendance. Continuous Service Certificates were presented to those eligible who were in attendance. Letters of Appreciation were also presented to Mike and Teresa Amerling of WISCO for hosting our dinners, and to Gil Ahtonen for all his past work and achievements at Post 347.

Cancelled events. Obviously due to COVID-19, most or all of our meetings and events have been cancelled. There was no Membership Meeting in April and if a meeting in May will be held has not been decided. Hopefully we can get back on schedule in June.

There will be NO Spring Raffle ticket sale this spring. After we start meetings again a decision will need to be made whether it will be cancelled for this year. ALSO, there will be NO Memorial Day Breakfast this year. As of this printing, the Firing Squad will STILL be doing the Memorial Day Honors.

The order placed some time ago for uniforms has not been completely filled. Latest word is that due to the pandemic, the order was put on hold and there is no idea when we can expect to receive it.

Membership. As of April 30th, Post 347 is approximately 30 short of our goal (185). Commander Darryn has been doing some “Buddy Checks” via phone calls to remind people of renewals and to check of any needs that Post 347 can help with.

Post 347 donation to local Food Pantries:Gil Ahtonen (1st Vice Cmdr) made a call to all board members to get approval to donate money to our local Food Pantries. The motion was approved to give both the Lomira and Campbellsport Food Pantries each $1000.00.   On Wednesday April 15th, Commander Darryn Laitinen, 1st Vice Cmdr Gil Ahtonen and Adjutant/Finance Officer Dick Waechter, presented a check of $1000.00 to Ralph Germain the coordinator of the Lomira Food Pantry. Earlier on the same day, Dick Waechter handed a check for $1000.00 to Lenore Schill, the coordinator of the Campbellsport Food Pantry.
