Post 347 Newsletters

MARCH – APRIL, 2018          NEWSLETTER

POST 347 WEBSITE:   I hope everyone has a chance to go online and look at our website. We have been working daily on updating and added new things.  Our website contains information on:  Upcoming events;  information about Post 347, a photo gallery; Second District information and newsletters; it contains this newsletter and past Post 347 newsletters; an Auxiliary page, a SAL page, an American Legion Riders page, Last Call page, High Ground page, link to Legion store and much more.  If anyone has ideas of more to do, contact Dick Waechter through the Post email address above, or call (920) 918-2013.
MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL:   We are nearing the end of 2018 renewals.  We have mailed out post cards to delinquent members who have yet to renew.  Again, our membership year is July 1st till June 30th.  All of incentives and awards for early memberships and 100% Post Award are almost past.  We missed everything.
SCHULTZ, WILLIAM R – US Air Force, Vietnam

AMERICAN LEGION BIRTHDAY PARTY DINNER:  This year’s party will be held at WISCO’s in Leroy, WI.  Cocktails at 4 PM and dinner at 5 PM. We will be having Roast Turkey and Roast Sirloin along with all the fixings.  Cost this year is $20/person.  The price includes the free dinner offered to members with over 50 years of service.  Enclosed is a reservation form to be filled out and mailed back before March 18th or call Gil Ahtonen to reserve your spot and pay at the dinner.  Our thanks to Dennis Kemmel for setting up and finalizing all arrangements.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS:  Again we are nearing the end of year and this means getting nominations in for officers.  Our adjutant has asked to have someone else take over his job.  Dick Waechter has offered to take over the Adjutant position but this means someone needs to step up to be Commander.   OR, if somebody is interested in the Adjutants position, Dick would stay on as Commander.  Any other thoughts, let us know.

2nd ANNUAL CASH RAFFLE TICKETS:  (click here for details)
Mailings of this years “Cash Raffle” will be coming out shortly.  We did well last year and it helped us tremendously in catching up on a lot of our bills incurred with the restaurant before closing.  This year’s raffle will be the beginning of rebuilding our legion and put towards a new facility.  We need everyone’s support in selling or purchasing all of our tickets.  This is your legion and we look forward to a new start.  Thanks in advance for your support.   The drawing for the $2500 worth of prizes will be held at our Memorial Day Breakfast which will be held this year at the Brownsville Community Center in Brownsville.  Winners not be present but hope to see everyone there this year.  See more information on our Website.

Many things are still happening at our Post.  Attending our membership meetings is your privilege and opportunity to have a voice in all that is going on.    We need to find more fund raising events to continue with our obligations to the community and to fulfil our “Four Pillars” requirements.  Any ideas you may have are deeply appreciated.  If you can’t attend a meeting, call the commander or pass it along with another member.
Hope to see you at our next meeting.
